Lest you believe the right-leaning, mind-numbing claim that the “occupy” protests are simply comprised of young, drug-fueled, murderous, freedom-hating, anti-American, smelly hippies, meet my mother: a regular attendee of Occupy Chicago. She worked as a construction worker for many years (hence the hard hat) and is now a small business owner.
If you’re paying attention, you’ll see lots of people like my mother. You’ll see lots of people like me. You’ll see lots of people like you, too. The massive global turnout on October 15th reminds us that the 99 percent are indeed an enormous, diverse group. It’s easy to see; you just have to be willing to open your eyes to a reality you may not be comfortable with.
